The efficient and convenient logistics system in Yiwu plays a critical role in expanding the market for small commodities. The huge markets fostered Yiwu to have multiple levels of logistics methods like highway, railway, air, shipping, express, internet and special lines like Yiwu-Xinjiang-Europe and Yi-Yong-Zhou Great Way. The total volume of post and express delivery was 1 billion and 123 million in the first half year of 2018, which beat Beijing and ranked 5 nationwide.
The smooth flow of goods depends largely on the reform and innovation.
The first and only county-level customs was established in 2009, which allows merchants in Yiwu to deal with the import and export locally.
On March 4th, 2011, Yiwu was approved by the State Council to be the pilot place of international trade comprehensive reform. It was also the first count-level place where the one-stop purchasing mode was raised.
The first Yiwu-Madrid train, as known as Yiwu-Xinjiang-Europe cargo train, departed on November 18th, 2014. It strengthened the Belt and Road Initiatives and paved the way for a brand-new start of the silk road.
New international freight routes to Middle Asia, Iran, Afghanistan, Spain, Russia, Latvia, Belarus, U.K. and Czech have been launched so far. There are 5 distribution centers along the way and 8 warehouses overseas, radiating 35 countries.
An increasing number of foreign business people choose to settle down and run their business in this small city. They trade with China as well as the rest of the world starting from here.
This was an unthinkable time when people exchanged chicken feather with candies 40 years ago. They would see it as a miracle. While the present Yiwu we are talking about has been the very miracle itself.
